The term of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is ending on November 26. Currently, there is a Mahayuti coalition government in Maharashtra, headed by Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde.

The dates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections have been announced. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that elections will be held in the state on November 20. If we talk about the Maharashtra Assembly at present, the ruling party i.e. Mahayuti alliance has 218 seats out of 288 assembly seats. There is a direct contest between the Mahavikas Aghadi party and the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra.

Voting for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in one phase on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule for the state assembly elections on Tuesday. He said that assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra in one phase. According to the election schedule announced by the Election Commission, notification will be issued in Maharashtra on October 22 and the last date for nomination will be October 29. He said that nomination papers can be withdrawn till November 4, 2024.

The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ends on November 26. Apart from this, by-elections will be held on November 13 for 47 assembly seats in 15 states and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala. By-elections will also be held on November 20 for the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra currently has a Mahayuti coalition government, headed by Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde. Apart from Shiv Sena, this ruling coalition includes Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nationalist Congress Party led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. On the other hand, the opposition coalition is Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). It includes Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) led by senior leader Sharad Pawar.
